Which debts are dischargeable in Chapter 7? As a general rule, debts which are not specifically excluded for discharge by statute, court order, priority, or reaffirmation are considered dischargeable debts in Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases. However, non-dischargeable debts include all un-assessed taxes, criminal fines and penalties, and many debts that were created without the knowing consent of creditors, including civil liability for injuries and other similar tort claims for damages relating to DWI, DUI, reckless endangerment, and intentional violations of criminal statutes.
