Listing exempt property within disclosures is not enough. All
exemptions must be included on a proper claim form and reference
appropriate statues. Georgia bankruptcy lawyers/attorneys do this daily
for their clients, yet must constantly refer back to Georgia bankruptcy law
to verify amounts and Code section cites. Each Georgia bankruptcy law firm
that assists debtors in Chapter 7 should be acutely aware of the local
rules established by the Georgia bankruptcy court, and recent amendments
contained in state exempt property statutes, as well as the dramatic
changes swept in by recent federal law reform acts. The burden of
compliance for Georgia property lawyers and litigation attorneys has
grown substantially over the last two years, to the point that pro se
debtors stand little chance of receiving maximum benefits available by
law.
