Designate Alaska Homestead Exemptions In Real Property Records

Help Finding Lawyers and Attorney Fee Guidelines

When filing bankruptcy, the Alaska homestead law authorizes state residents to protect up to $54,000 in equity value. To prevent unnecessary problems when claming the exemption, the Alaska Homestead Act permits citizens to designate a primary residence within the real property records maintained by each county. This designation is in addition to the Alaska homestead form filed with the Bankruptcy Court, and may prevent disputes if owning multiple tracts of real estate.
