The most basic requirements for filing bankruptcy include a complete
set of forms, schedules, accurate creditor lists, and full disclosure of
all assets and liabilities. Records generated by filing bankruptcy are
maintained by the clerk of the court, and must remain available to the
public at all times while a case is pending. The clerk's office, in all
most all federal divisions, maintains public access computers providing
unlimited free bankruptcy records online for local cases (within the
division), and may also provide limited nationwide search capabilities
through the PACER system.
